At 5:52am PST, the Leo Moon at 24-degrees will Oppose the Sun at the same degree point in Aquarius, and the most dynamic and unstable Full Moon of the year is upon us. Unstable just means sudden change is happening, and Uranus is participating in this Full Moon so directly, this is one lunation in which anything can happen, and probably will. Aquarius Sun has our conscious awareness vibing with what the community needs, and Leo allows us to shine our light brightly out there in the world. This Full Moon allows us to make adjustments inside ourselves so that we might know our gifts and talents, and share them more directly with a world that desperately needs all of us stepping up into service in a big way.
Leo is ruled by the Sun, and this fixed fire sign reflects our ability to center ourselves in our lives, know our gifts and talents, and share them with the world in a manner that is out loud and bold. As the Sun is our conscious awareness, being stuck in an egoic mindset is a shadow of Leo. Too much self in the room, and you run the risk of arrogance, grandiosity, and putting yourself out there for the attention it will bring you. But the opposite can also feature in a Leo Full Moon, where those who struggle with being in the spotlight must release the inhibitions that keep them dimming their light.
We have entered the Age of Aquarius, leaving the unconscious Age of Pisces behind us. The forces that were able to forge a patriarchal world two thousand years ago are evolving out of existence. Aquarius is generating the next two-thousand-year Age, one in which Peace for Humanity reins, and all human beings are cared for. What we are experiencing now, especially in the United States, is an extinction grab. The masculine principle, terrified of its perceived demise, is generating a powerful explosion of effort to keep the old ways intact. But the old ways are already dead, and we must bridge the gap between the old world and the new. And we do that by each of us reaching for personal excellence (Leo), and sharing what we create with the world that needs what we have to offer (Aquarius).
Expect the unexpected could be a mantra for Uranus, the outer planet we call the Great Awakener. The 90-degree Square is the geometry of change, and Uranus is holding an almost exact T-Square with both the Sun and the Moon at the moment of the lunation. You all know by now that I am subject to hyperbole, but there isn’t language dramatic enough to describe the sudden and unexpected nature of this Full Moon. There will be drama. There will be changes. There will be endings. There will be beginnings. This lunar cycle, driven by this Full Moon, has already reflected wild and unexpected events in the outside world. That same chaos is being held by each of us internally, and so all of us will be hit in some way, the intensity of which depends on your current narrative.
We are being moved in new directions with this Full Moon, as it will also form the Inconjunct, the fork in the road geometry I love so much, with the beautiful Conjunction of Neptune and the North Node in Pisces. Venus is in Aries having moved about 5-degrees into that fire sign, but will retrograde back into Pisces and dance with Neptune and the North Node again. So, our sense of the future (North Node), our beliefs and ideologies (Neptune), and how we live in our hearts (Venus), is guiding the way, but make no mistake about it, some of you will be moved onto new paths quite literally. For some, it will be immediate, but the retrograding personal planets will likely mean that we may receive some spark of change in this Moon, but we will layer into those new landscapes bit by bit as winter turns to spring.
The Moon will Trine Chiron, so we are in good working order with the mystery and the cycles, as Chiron holds that wisdom for us, which is good for us because Mars is doing something really interesting. Mars is stationed at 17-degrees of Cancer and will not move for a full month. Mars will go direct on March 1st, but he will not move from this degree for weeks before and after turning around. A stationing planet is at its most objective and powerful when appearing not to move. It’s like we are standing still so we can take in all the revolutionary changes that are happening, and integrate them into our behaviors as Mars, and the other personal planets, finish their retrogrades this spring. Mars is in a Trine with Saturn, so every move we make this month has the Teacher looking over our shoulder, and the Teacher is pleased. We can move slowly, mindfully, and with discipline and responsibility, even with the very excitable energy that this Full Moon is bringing.
I have spoken a lot this year about the birth canal of the zodiac, that tremendously sensitive point as the last degree of the zodiac gives way to the first. The North Node, which moves backward, crossed over this point at the top of the year, signaling that the collective is birthing a new chapter. Then Neptune, Saturn, Venus, and Mercury will all trigger this point through the spring, and with them, we are birthing a new consciousness, driven by faith and ideologies (Neptune) doing the right thing and honoring your responsibilities (Saturn), and moving with head and heart in perfect alignment (Mercury and Venus). This Full Moon is like contractions that start when the water breaks, but you didn’t know you were pregnant.
Prepare for anything in this Full Moon, and be ready to pivot. Consider which side of the Leo continuum you dwell on, and ask your unconscious to help you release blocks to your magnificence, whether it is to tone it down a bit to find some humility, step it up and allow yourself to truly shine perhaps for the first time, or something in between. We do not know where we are heading, a perfect reflection of the North Node, the point of our future, in the amorphous waters of Pisces. We must move by blind faith, supported by a deep and abiding spiritual practice. We do not know what the year ahead will bring, but we know by now who we are (Leo), and what contribution we are preparing to make (Aquarius). The world needs you bringing your best in service to truly usher in the Age of Aquarius. So do that, and have at it.
