The Full Moon in Scorpio at 11°22’ Scorpio is exact this morning at 10:22am PDT. The Sabian Symbol for 12° Scorpio is “An Official Embassy Ball.” Something about the political connotations of this symbol interested me as I continue to share these symbols more often in my writeups. This is a Full Moon of change, as all Scorpio Moons are, and somehow the propriety and conformity of the symbol’s image seemed an ironic match.
If I interpret the symbol as a dream, embassy implies high level diplomacy and government. It’s a ball, suggestive of celebration, but reflecting the times, the ballroom in this dream is mad with chaos and instability. It’s the crowd outside the embassy that has my attention right now, because that’s us, demanding change in the outside world. We can’t make big change in the outside world if we have not generated big change within us. You will not create a world that you can not hold the reflection of, and that can only happen if we all take responsibility for killing off the old structures in our personal and consciousness. Today offers an interesting way to join others in bridging the gap between the personal and the collective change, join the worldwide blackout today, May 1st, where we do not support anything corporate, so shop, buy, and eat local in honor of the Full Moon.
In Taurus, our conscious awareness knows comfort, pleasure, and a sense that being on Earth in a body is a loving gesture. But we only know the delights of the garden when we understand its impermanence. Death is why we have life, and yet we fear it at a level that is astonishing considering how much a part of life it is, no different really than birth. This is a Full Moon where we hold both at the same time; life as abundantly rich, and the destruction of that life as necessary and beloved. Just like night and day, or the in breath and out, we cannot fathom the enormity of existence in these tiny little bodies. So we know life, but only because we accept death.
This cycle was kicked off by the New Moon in Aries that had Chiron directly attached. Aries faces outward as Chiron’s guidance turns us inward, so we have two jobs this lunar cycle. Grab the freight train of time and get moving while the momentum for action in the outside world swells. But work with the inner landscape too, because the psychic surgery of this lunation can go to a very deep place. This is a phrase I throw around, but it is not random. It’s only transformational like this when Scorpio or Pluto is involved.
We are letting go of things that may have been embedded in our hearts and stuck in the body as calcified facia for decades. Fasci is connective tissue that lays across the surface of the entire body, like a net of protection. It has two states; solid and gel. You experience this when you stretch in the morning and feel odd snaps and cracks (that are not vertebrae releasing), followed by a warm rush. That’s fascia that hardened overnight returning to the gel state. It turns out that fasci underpins intuitive perception, and it responds to waves of energy that come from others. When you are clear enough in your instrument, you can learn to interpret these sensations as information. And if you can already do that to a significant level, it’s being upgraded now.
Aries invented the body, Virgo runs it, and Taurus makes it capable of enormous pleasure. This is why I am talking about fascia as a structure that holds wounds in the body. A Scorpio Full Moon can remove such blocks from your embodiment. Mercury is Conjunct Chiron at essentially the same degree of the New Moon two weeks ago. Our mind and perception is guiding this Full Moon to allow the Aries fire burn off the old ways that have been holding you back. Much has been revealed in these last months, so we can let the loving and trustworthy Taurus energy to hold us, while the Scorpio stinger kills off the inner demons that you have recently uncovered.
The Moon is Trining Jupiter in exalted Cancer, which helps us surrender to change and loss, even if it hurts deeply. Cancer is a generous sign for Jupiter, and we can feel held by maternal safety as we let ourselves die to self. If you have been resisting change, refusing to let something go, or have stayed too long at the fair in a relationship, this is the time to take the risk. Jupiter in Cancer will help absorb any grief so we can process deeply, integrate what we’ve learned, and move forward changed.
This is a Full Moon of endings, even more so because Uranus, the bringer of rapid change, is now in Gemini. The mind is filled with ideas of freedom and the desire to break out of old constraints. Now that sensation has words. Uranus is once again applying toward a Trine with Pluto the planet of deep, slow change. Pluto rules this Full Moon and so be prepared for that, but also expect the unexpected from Uranus, and trust that Jupiter in the mix assures us that what we are moving through is for our ultimate benefit, and long term growth. Taurus and Scorpio are also all about the cash and prizes in life. Where Taurus invented prosperity, Scorpio shows us how to make it grow in transform it into more.
Uranus and Venus are now 9° apart, which puts them outside of their recent Conjunction. If you calculate the midpoint between them, it’s 5° Gemini. This forms an exact Trine with Pluto. Their Trine has a few more months before it perfects, but Venus in Gemini is now operating in a new way. The upleveled heart is being transplanted into the embodiment of the new Earth. But that midpoint is also T-Squaring the Nodes. The Pluto Trine takes us deep, and the T-Square grabs the things from our past that we must finally address before we can move into the future we desire. This also speaks to endings, especially with relationships that have outlasted their value. If you are holding on to the idea of what love and connection used to look like, let it go and make room for something brand new.
Pluto is forming an Inconjunct with the South Node of the Moon that will perfect itself in a week. This has some gravitas in it, for as we’ve been changed into new shapes, the world is also engaged in a death spiral. We are moving into territory that is so new, each step will fall on ground that is only appearing as our foot touches the road. It’s that kind of trust and surrender that’s needed now. This is such substantial transit of releasing the past. The capacity to scrape out old ideas, wounds, misinterpretations, patterns, etc. is as good as it gets. Pluto acts as the “honey dipper,” my father’s cute nickname for the dude who came by twice a year to empty the septic tank. The South Node is like the septic tank holding the shits of our past, and Pluto is the most thorough honey dipper ever hired.
I know the world is terrifying right now, and the answer to the constant query of when this will all end is never. There is no end to revolution, for as we take down, we build anew. The same is true for us. We walk through our lives, and when we look in the mirror of the shadow that Scorpio invented, only then can we know the opposite world of grounded and stable love that is in Taurus’s home. All opposites create something we call the transcendent third. Mother, father, child. Artist, canvas, painting. If Taurus is life on Earth, and Scorpio is death, the transcendent third is life itself. We are here to live it abundantly and so it is. Have at it!
