New Moon in Taurus May 11, 2021

The New Moon in Taurus takes place today, and is exact at 11:59am PDT. This is the New Moon ruled by Venus, and Taurus is where we first learned to love the world of form. Being in a body is so painful, but it is through this mansion that we relate to all the pleasures of this experience. In the evolution of the zodiac, Aries starts the entire mechanism up helping us understand the power of the I Am. But in Taurus, we consider where that I Am is playing out, and the beautiful offering of this archetype is the Earth herself. The bequest that is our body, the pleasures that life offers, and grounding into the heart to allow a sense of deserving all we desire; these are the gifts of the Taurus mansion.

This New Moon is Conjunct Black Moon Lilith, a much-misunderstood shadow point that is technically related to the unconscious. Not the deep unconscious where everything is, well, unconscious. BML relates to the sometimes frightening, but powerfully creative way that little bits of unconscious material sneak up into our conscious awareness day by day. When you know how to work with that material (like being triggered but still be able to stay present and not be fully reactive within that trigger) you can cook with gas with regard to creating new things, because we need that unconscious power to build anything. This is also a point that represents repressed desires, so if there is any sense of undeserving you are working through right now, the presence of this point connected to this New Moon can go a long way to help us drop into deep places and declare your readiness to receive.

Black Moon Lilith connects us to our sexuality in powerful ways as well, and a New Moon in Taurus is all about our sensual nature. So, this is a New Moon that allows us to incorporate our sexual desires, passions, and needs for affection and pleasure to be part of what we intend to create at this time. In fact, this whole New Moon is an opportunity to really drop into how much pleasure you can imagine your life to afford you. Taurus is the mansion where we invented the world of form, and all the yumminess that being in a body can yield. Black Moon Lilith takes that passionate enjoyment of the body to a whole other level, so do not shrink back from setting intentions that are deeply personal, powerfully sexual, and ultimately, sensual in nature.

There is a powerful forward thrust of energy in this New Moon as Mercury and Venus are hovering around the North Node of the Moon. The North Node is all about our dharma, and the future as we are creating it. Setting intentions at a moment when both our mind and heart – Mercury and Venus – are relating powerfully to where we are heading (North Node), makes this a lunation with some real forward trajectory. We are likely to have a sense of alignment between the ideas we have about what we want to create (Mercury) and the feeling experience needed to manifest those ideas into form (Venus). Put both of these personal planets on either side of the North Node, and we have a moment where we are being led powerfully into the future by virtue of the intentions we set.

But there’s more. While Mercury and Venus connect directly with the North Node, both Mars and Uranus are making contact with the South Node, the point that holds the past and all the karmic lessons and baggage we have to deal with both collectively and individually. They are each hitting the South Node with the Great Eliminator angle, and so this moment is designed to help us quite literally walk away from old patterns and habits as we step onto a new path. Two of these Great Eliminator angles happening at the same time forms a pattern known as a Finger of God, or Finger of Fate if you prefer that word.

Because both the South and North Node are involved in this pattern, this Finger of God has the added bonus of being what is called a Focused Yod, meaning it has much more power to guide us into the exact place we need to be in order to allow the winds of fate to rise up and help us move forward with tremendous assistance from the universe. The Nodes are what generate eclipses, and while this New Moon is not an eclipse, it does signal the beginning of eclipse season as the Full Moon during this lunar cycle is, in fact, the first eclipse of the season. We are in a wormhole of energy with this New Moon that will take two lunar cycles to play out.
When we open our eyes at the end of June, we will find that just about anything that can changed, will have changed. In most of my lunation articles, I always focus on finding your gifts and sharing them with the world in service. This New Moon is much more personal, less about how you serve others and much more about how you serve yourself. There will be plenty of opportunity down the road to focus once again on the outside world and what it needs/expects of you. For this moment, turn to what you desire to make your life the most pleasurable and comfortable experience you can create, and ground that into reality by setting powerful intentions to create more love. When you feel fed by your own journey, then you can more easily help to feed others.

Full Moon in Scorpio April 26, 2021!

The Full Moon in Scorpio hits tonight at 8:31pm PDT, so for those in Europe and Africa, this is technically part of your early Tuesday morning, and mid-afternoon Tuesday for those of you down under. The Moon will move into Scorpio at 9:18am PDT this morning after a 4-1/2 hour Void Moon in Libra. Once we cross the threshold into the Scorpio Moon, the building energy – and there has been a lot of pent-up energy from this past week – will intensify. Our emotional responses will heighten, and we will find ourselves in that powerful and profound energy that every Full Moon brings that has the capacity to transform our inner experience.

Ruled by Pluto, this Full Moon is about death and rebirth itself. Its capacity to help us heal, transform, and drop old, wounded consciousness by the side of the road is total and utter. We are in the Taurus mansion, and so our conscious awareness is dedicated to the understanding of form. This is the mansion of comfort and groundedness, but also where we discover our personal values, and a sense of how you wish your life to reward you. In the opposing polarity of Scorpio, we learn about collaboration. Personal power becomes shared power, and while Taurus always brings us closer to what we want, it is in Scorpio that we understand that we may need to radically change and transform in order to manifest those desires into form.

The power of this moment is driven by a number of factors, but one of them is certainly the fact that so many planets are in Taurus along with the Sun. It is the Conjunction between Mercury and Venus that will allow us to move through these days with a strong alignment between how we are thinking, and what our emotional intelligence has to offer. Mind and heart are in easy congruency when Mercury and Venus are traveling together. But it is the close involvement of Uranus in Taurus that will bring the lightning flash that he is known for. The last Full Moon had Uranus directly participating as well in the Great Eliminator angle, so if you feel yourself in some transformative process of healing and letting things go from deep in your unconscious, that process continues now, only with more intensity and demand. Uranus Conjunct the Sun can bring sudden and remarkable insights, awareness, pivots, and reversals, and this Full Moon has this electricity built directly into it.

That demand part comes from the participation of Saturn. Remember the big transit of the year that is providing all of the instability of change that continues to pepper our experience, is Saturn in a Square with Uranus. We are in a revolution of sorts, and the guiding players are the Great Teacher, and the Great Awakener, in the conflict and obstacle geometry of the 90-degree Square. Squares represent the unstable steppingstones we must use to cross over the rushing stream of consciousness. We will get to where we want to go, but imagine that each of those stones we must make contact with are unevenly spaced, covered with moss, and slick with rushing water. We will indeed get through each lesson, but it may be a challenging process, and Saturn means business. His presence indicates a moment that no one is escaping what we must learn at this level of our development.

If there is something you must face that perhaps you have been avoiding or shrinking back from, there is no wiggle room to face your challenges with half measures. Part of the difficulty of is that Uranus speeds things up, while Saturn slows things down. At the same time. Both of these powerhouse planets active in this Full Moon truly amplifies what is possible, and the Scorpio archetype is all about allowing for the death that is required when a rebirth is desired. Even amidst the chaotic sensations of this past week, Saturn has slowed things down enough to focus on the task at hand, which is to allow for parts of yourself to transform. But make no mistake about it, some of you are moving through some hefty lessons, and Saturn may have you feeling like you are hitting your head against a brick wall. Try not to get distracted by your thoughts and judgments about what you are going through, and trust that something deeper is happening.

This is not a Full Moon for the feint of heart. Scorpio is the mansion where we surrender to the constant relationship we must all cultivate with death. We practice our deaths with every healing we move through, for as one aspect of Self is born, a previous version of us must be allowed to die. Since the fear of death is quite powerfully knitted into our psyche, that fear is also expressed as fear of change. Be careful of any habits and patterns you are holding onto, for they may just be snatched out from under you in order to facilitate the growth that is possible right now.

Scorpio is a water sign, and so if you ritualize your Full Moon celebrations, be sure to include a watery element to your process. And remember the connection between Scorpio and death, and the organic fears we all have to the complete surrender that this moment is requiring of us. Ruminate on all the ways you are ready to drop old limitations, and then hold the funeral for the old version of your Self that you are allowing to die. And then trust that the rebirth will follow.

New Moon in Aries April 11, 2021!

The New Moon in Aries takes place at 7:30pm PDT this evening. This is the first New Moon of the astrological new year, and so in some ways, the intentions we set at this time have a bit more forward thrust than is typical. The Sun, Moon, Venus, Mercury and Chiron are all in this cardinal fire sign where we first understand the concept of the I Am. As the first archetype of the zodiac, Aries is where we start things up, and push into new directions using the very energy that understands how to dive in headfirst. This is not a time to shrink back from what you want to create for yourself and your life, but rather a moment to burst onto the scene, and allow the momentum of this moment to carry your intentions powerfully into the future.

After the profound depth of healing that the last lunar cycle brought us through, this can truly be a moment of renewal, and an opportunity to begin again, with a much greater sense of integration and wholeness as a result of what we just worked through. If Mercury and Venus are moving through Aries right now, it means they recently visited Pisces, the land of the unconscious. Now in Aries, and directly participating in this New Moon, mind and heart are in an easy sense of congruity with both of these planets in the same sign. While they were in Pisces, we were doing some behind-the-scenes work in our unconscious, and now in Aries, they are both ready to fire us up with all they learned. When mind and heart are in alignment, then we can cook with gas when it comes to manifesting our desires.

There are some side bars in this New Moon that can help us get those heart’s desires beautifully clear and open, and to inspire the actions needed in the weeks and months to turn them into form. Mars, the planet of action, movement, and goals themselves is in a Trine with Jupiter, the Great Expander. And smack dab in the middle of the triangle that these two are forming is the New Moon itself, creating the productive angle of the Sextile from the New Moon to both of these players. The intentions we set at this time have a greater likelihood of success in this particular lunation because Mars is ready to take the marching orders we give him, and Jupiter is present to allow us to think and dream big.

Venus and Pluto are in a Square during this New Moon, and while this is a potential emotional snake pit, if you can turn away from the darker emotions this transit is famous for (jealousy, territorial disputes, obsession, and sexual tensions), you can drop into the deep and passionate feelings spaces within your psyche to find the perfect emotional fertilizer to help your seeds of intentions blossom. The entire Aries stelium is holding this Square with the Lord of the Underworld (though it is Venus in the late degrees of Aries that is holding the exact 90-degree angle). This is uncomfortable geometry, for it has allowed the shadow to be very present these days (have you noticed that?). When we do not shrink back from what frightens us, or refrain from arguing with the things that we wish were not so, we are much more powerful co-creators with Source.

Pluto is all over this moment, in fact. There is one Pluto/North Node transit that happens this year, and if you recall, the revolutionary transformation on the planet last year was completely driven by Pluto and his interactions with Jupiter and Saturn. The North Node is the collective point that represents the entire planet, and every being on it, moving toward the same future. Pluto is the force of change, and this year’s North Node transit reflects the growing pains that accompany such transformation as we are moving through. The 135-degree angle known as the Sesqui-Square is pure frustration and the discomfort when things don’t feel quite right. The outer world has changed completely, and now our inner worlds must adjust, and this squeeze between the shadow (Pluto) and the future (North Node) is exact today. This transit has influence over this entire year (and last year and next as well) but the day it hits its exact mark is today, which is one powerful synchronicity.

We are in the birth of the new world while also attending its funeral, and that may be difficult to wrap your heart and mind around. So once again, it all comes down to you. And me. All of us as individuals. This is an invention of Aries, that we are each on an individualized journey in a body; separate, yet still connected to the whole. But remember, Aries is where we are less captivated by how we are all part of one collective, and more focused on our individual role. As each of us on the planet rise up into the most powerful and expansive versions of ourselves, the entire system is raised up in vibration. This is the moment to truly celebrate your particular I Am, and remember that the world is being reborn and so are we. We offer new gifts to the world, and by doing so, inch ever closer toward world peace.
