The Full Moon in Scorpio hits this morning at 9:55am PDT. When the Sun is in Taurus, we are in alignment with life’s rewards. This fixed earth sign is quite literal; Taurus invented the earth herself, and we, as children of Gaia, get to enjoy the journey because Taurus promises us value, abundance, sensual pleasure, and life as a bountiful experience. When the Moon is in Scorpio, we are in the unconscious realm of death and rebirth, as this sign, ruled by Pluto, is where we understand that in order to grow and keep receiving the promise of Good that is our birthright, we must allow for transformation to go all the way down to our deepest unconscious places. What needs to change in order for you to have a more abundant life where love leads? This is the Full Moon where we accomplish that.

The Taurus Sun is just a handful of degrees away from Uranus, the Great Awakener, so we are lit up with the possibility of sudden change and immediate integration of new consciousness. We leap to higher levels of our awareness when Uranus is involved, and this Full Moon is the last way that Uranus is being activated before he ingresses Gemini this summer. Remember I have been saying for many months that we are in preparatory mode so that we might meet the mighty rapid-fire and revolutionary changes that will be taking place this summer and next year. More and more people are waking up, and this Full Moon will support letting go of things that have been deeply buried in unconscious spaces. Uranus will help with its flash of lightning, and if you think you know what’s going to happen next, think again, because Uranus always brings the unexpected.

We are wrapping up all of the personal planet retrogrades in this lunar cycle. Mercury did this in April, and Mars completed his cycle on May 1st. Venus is still in her direct shadow, but has no more triple transits to make and is very close to her completion as well (May 15th). As a result of these cycles, we are all operating very differently – mind-body-heart – as each of the personal planets took us on a journey into the below since last October. Retrogrades shift things unconsciously, and then we integrate the new awareness into our conscious awareness as reflected by the Sun. This is the Full Moon where we release all the detritus unearthed from unconscious places as a result of these crisscrossing retrogrades. We are primed for big releases, and you want to hold on to things so lightly that if something surprising ends now, you are ready to pivot, and trust better things are waiting for you on the other side of all of this transformative work we have been doing at the personal level.

There is an important Square in the background of this lunation which reflects the conflicts, lessons, and mighty steppingstones on the evolutionary path we’re all navigating. Mercury in an exact Square with Pluto puts mental intensity and a troubled mind into the mix. But as challenging as this transit is, it is valuable that Pluto is directly involved in a Full Moon that he rules. Out in the world, this transit reflects low vibe communication, like passive aggression or manipulation (so watch for that today). But when we look in the mirror today, this transit can help with being authentic in your self-assessment, willing to look at the shadow material that’s arising and face it head on, instead of pushing it deeper into a repressed place.

With all this hyperbolic talk about big change and transformation, it is also possible that changes now may in fact be small adjustments that will lead to very new territory down the line. There is a Yod, also known as a Finger of God, that has the Moon and the Sun as the apex of the pattern. So, what we are aware of (Sun) and what we are unconsciously moving through (Moon) is driven forward and assisted by a Sextile between Chiron and Jupiter. Jupiter reminds you that abundance is your birthright, and Chiron is all about helping us feel worthy of our good by clearing out the wounds that hinder us from knowing just how spectacular we are.

There is a teaching in astrology that tells us that Saturn likes to reward us for a job well done. This happens in different ways, but a lunation like this that is so unstable with sudden change, with Saturn connecting to the Nodes in an Easy Opposition (essentially softening the full force of an Opposition) tells us that all the work has not been in vain. New wisdom acquired from facing what you see in the mirror these past months will absolutely usher us easily into our next chapter. The word “easily” may be a misnomer, because this has been not at all easy to move through, but the term applies. Saturn is still in Pisces, so deeply connected to our unconscious experience. Before this lunar cycle ends, he bursts into Aries, and we are off with a shot.

The work we have done will pay off, and now we release the last of what must go at this time. The Sun is in Taurus, and I am reminded of the Course in Miracles declaration that anything unlike love is an illusion; Taurus knows this. What Scorpio knows is that freedom, and more love, is available at any time, if you are willing to die to self, in order to be reborn again. Scorpio is a sign of mysticism, and because this sign is ruled by Pluto, the Lord of the Underworld, the work we are doing is very much tethered to deep places in our unconscious mind. This is a perfect lunation to use the kind of prayer I offer when what we are moving through is feeling overwhelming to the thinking mind. Try this in your Full Moon ritual: “I am now ready to release all emotional patterns, known and unknown, conscious and unconscious, that inhibit my ability to receive love and abundance more fully, and I allow a part of me to die, so that I might rise into the next chapter of my becoming.”

And so it is, have at it!
