The Full Moon Partial Lunar Eclipse in Pisces is exact tonight at 9:12pm PDT. The Sun is at 4°53” Virgo, and Mercury is saddled up right next door in what is called the Superior Conjunction. We are consciously aware of everything the Virgo mansion has to offer; healing, integration, organization, and an awareness of embodiment down to the level of the nervous system. Ruled by both Chiron and Mercury, this is a tremendously healing Full Moon. Though like any operation, even a psychic surgery needs to cut you open with a scalpel to initiate the healing that will follow. In Virgo we are in consideration of our daily life and all its to do lists and obligations, but we also have access to knowing what the body needs, and when. With Mercury and the Sun together, our awareness of self is very strong.
Pisces is the field out of which all experience emerges. This mutable water sign is the last in the series of twelve, so it contains all the wisdom of the eleven signs that precede it. This is where we access the collective, multidimensionality, inspiration, and the world of dreams. But all that juiciness comes through our unconscious mind, so our blind spots also emanate from this mansion. The Sabian Symbol for 5° Pisces (4°50’) is A Church Bazaar. It’s as if we are in a place of seemingly endless opportunities and can find what we desire, avoid what doesn’t serve, and follow our sense of knowing with Pisces energy, rather than the Virgo demand for dwelling in the details.
The Moon will Trine Mars, helping us embody everything that shifts in this lunation with some ease. Which is a good thing because Venus is out there by herself in her ruling sign of 20° Libra, soon to enter her retrograde shadow on Sunday. A Sesqui-Square from the Moon to Venus reflects a bit of emotional frustration or growing pains as we release some deep patterns that inhibit love. The world is changing so dynamically, we all have to learn how to give and receive love in a new, more open way. Pisces knows forgiveness and compassion, Virgo knows criticism. This Moon has the capacity to let you feel what’s happening without needing to limit it with your intellect.
All Full Moons support release, so there are often endings associate with a Full Moon, especially an eclipse. That makes it fated and transformative, and as a South Node eclipse, the emphasis is on releasing the past in order to have a more powerful future. The changes may be coming fast and furious in this whole cycle because the T-Square from Uranus to this Full Moon is exact. Let go of anything that’s not nailed down, especially those of you who are grabbing onto things for dear life that have reached their expiration date. This is a rip-it-from-your-hands moment, so do your best to surrender to the ride.
There is so much yummy, feminine, and compassionate healing in this eclipse. Chiron is on his way back into fiery Aries, but for now is still in Venus-ruled Taurus. He’s forming what’s called an Easy Opposition to the Sun and Moon. Chiron in Taurus heels through the Mother, so Earth herself and Grandmother Moon are holding us in the hands of grace. The ease that Chiron brings to the tension of opposites between the luminaries is a Trine to the Sun/Mercury and a Sextile to the Moon. The Healer is helping our awareness to be true and transparent with little effort from the Trine. The opportunity is always with the Sextile, the angle of potential. If you put in the work to honor this eclipse, the healing is yours for the asking.
The Nodes have just changed signs, so this eclipse is very close to the path of collective destiny. But from different signs, so there’s cognitive dissonance in both directions of what we’re leaving behind and how we are creating our futures. The South Node in Leo tells us to release ego, and the Virgo Sun/Mercury is aware of how those old patterns are knitted into our nervous systems, so the work to release is arduous and relentless. But the North Node in Aquarius is guiding us to serve, and the Pisces Moon right next to it gives us direct access to the collective and the power of the unconscious.
Everyone loves a Yod, and this Full Moon eclipse is making what is called a Focused Yod, which is when the pointy end has an opposing planet or luminary. The Sun/Mercury will Inconjunct both Pluto and Neptune, so we are guided forward by our awareness (Sun) but focused by our connection to the unconscious (Moon). This navigating geometry let’s us know that even small adjustments now can lead to much different territory in the future, and the journey there may be lifted up by the winds of Fate. Neptune inspires the new path we are stepping on, and Pluto digs the foundation for the new road we are building.
The choices we make in this lunar cycle count. The Moon will Trine Mars in Cancer, but Mars is also making a Square with Saturn. The first aspect supports that intuitive flow I’m talking about, but the Square to Saturn means we are under the harsh view of the stern Teacher. In Aries, he’s is ready to torch anything that doesn’t meet his standards of doing the right thing and having the courage to change. This is not meant to frighten you; in fact there is much support for galvanizing the wisdom of the past ten months as we move through this wormhole.
We all contain the Universe itself inside of us, and this Full Moon lets us float back into the depths of our inner seas, and surrender to this as if we are anesthetized against pain. I want to remind you that nothing comes for free, and the cost of freedom is death. Pluto is winking at us from his seat at the motor of the Yod, for through him we know that in order to receive what is coming, we have to die to rigidity and criticism. Virgo must know the specifics of the plan. Pisces doesn’t even know what a plan is. Trust you have all the resources at the ready for what you are creating. You can stay attached to the details, but the secret sauce is surrendering to not knowing. Then let the winds of fate help you along your way.
