The 20° Sagittarius Full Moon is exact just after midnight tonight, so technically tomorrow, but the energy applies all day long and peaks at 12:42 am PDT. When the Sun is in Gemini, we’re living in the world of thought and perception, connecting with others through shared ideas, and engaging in the mutable way our minds must consider all sides of things as we intellectualize our experience of life. We may have arrived in form from the Void in Pisces as Aries pops in and declares, I Am. Taurus tells us where that I Am is located by inventing the Earth herself. But it wasn’t until we had the word that life and consciousness could truly take shape in the human psyche.

Sagittarius is the mutable fire sign opposite Gemini, where we take the ideas in mind and elevate them into higher truths. Sag is a Centaur, a wisdom-bringer who helps others through the woods. Gemini creates the possibility for curiosity; Sagittarius takes that spark and turns it into something extraordinary. Laws, spiritual principles, credos, and the wisdom that emerges from diversity. This is where we experience the highest aspirations available to us when we’re brave enough to reach for them. Ruled by Jupiter, this is the sign that says we can have it all, as long as we stretch ourselves to attract, receive, and hold onto the good that’s always coming our way.

Mutable means flexible, capable of change, with the ability to shape-shift through life. A mutable Full Moon means we are, in fact, changing shape in this lunar cycle, inside and out. The collective is bumping up against all this personal transformation, just as the personal changes we’re navigating are being shaped by the collective in return. It’s a two-way street, the whole system is in motion, and this Full Moon is in an exact Square with the Nodes of the Moon, those points that reflect the collective journey. Squares mean change, and we are changing in all directions, and this division of the circle into four parts makes this Full Moon a moment of tension and conflict. But lean into what this lunar cycle is bringing you, and you may find yourself profoundly changed by the time we meet the New Moon in Cancer next month.

This is Jupiter’s Full Moon, as the planet of abundance and manifestation rules Sagittarius, the sign of expansion. It’s a gift that Jupiter moved into the sign of his exaltation yesterday, after spending a year in the sign of his detriment. Jupiter has trouble manifesting in Gemini, too many debates and considerations for focused construction. But in Cancer, Jupiter spreads out and creates. Cancer invented the womb, where we hold and gestate our ideas, and next month’s New Moon is exactly Conjunct Jupiter. In some ways, what we release in this lunar cycle helps set the stage for the success we’ll be planting into next month’s New Moon.

Mercury has just moved into Cancer and is only a few degrees away from Jupiter, and together they’re both holding the Great Eliminator Angle, the 150° fork in the road I love so much, with Pluto. Mercury teaming up with Jupiter has us feeling large and fabulous, but the Lord of the Underworld is here to remind us: if we want to be as big as we imagine, we have to allow the change and transformation necessary to make more room in the psyche for a greater expression out in the world. Again, I point to the New Moon in Cancer next month, when the Sun and Moon will be exactly Conjunct Jupiter. So let the mutable energy do its thing. Pluto tends to keep things hidden in the shadow, and this geometry is like lifting the hood and getting a clear look at what’s been keeping the engine from running at full capacity.

The Merkabah is a divine light body, an energetic vehicle that surrounds the physical form, connecting spirit and matter, and allowing for multidimensional travel and spiritual expansion. Whether or not you know this word or hold this idea in your worldview, we all have this, and spiritual awakening is really about developing your perceptions so you can live in more direct connection with this mystery. In astrology, the planet Mars represents us on the mundane, physical level, but it also reflects this higher sense of embodiment. Mars in an exact Trine with Chiron during this Full Moon allows the body to operate like an instrument, as Chiron teaches us how to live in two dimensions at once. This Trine also forms a Grand Fire Trine with the Moon, centering this lunation on the possibility of integrating all this mutable change directly into the body, and into our lived, physical experience.

So, bring your attention back to Mercury and Jupiter, because their Conjunction is making contact not only with Saturn and Neptune in Aries, but also with Venus, who has just returned home to grounded and loving Taurus, one of her ruling signs. The Sextile between Venus and Mercury/Jupiter is yummy AF. When we put in the effort to be loving and open, our hearts can stretch and open as fully as possible. That said (and of course, there’s always a but…), these two are also Squaring both Saturn and Neptune, who have only recently entered Aries. This adds to the sense of conflict, obstacles, confusion, and the weight of responsibility that this Full Moon is asking us to reckon with. If you can stay close to the mantra I Allow, you’ll be carried through this lunation, and into the next two weeks with more Grace. Remember that Jupiter rules this moment, so everything that is happening is for our highest good.

Uranus is still connecting to the Nodes of the Moon in what’s known as an Easy Opposition. Oppositions are challenging geometry; they reflect two energies coming at each other hard, demanding some kind of interaction. But when that tension is broken down into easier components, like a Trine and a Sextile, the problem those opposing points illuminate becomes more navigable. Uranus is Trine the South Node, so we’re moving away from the past with ease. Sextiles, however, require action. We have got to put in some effort to craft and cultivate the future. That effort, under this Full Moon, is about allowing for change and being flexible enough to squeeze through whatever filter your sausage maker is using right now, so you can take your desires and turn them into form as we continue moving through this potent year.

This is a shapeshifting moment, and the only way through is to let it do its work on you. Let go where you’re called to release. Stretch where you’re asked to grow. Mutable energy is in charge now, and much of what’s shifting is outside our control, so the task is to surrender, and allow the changes to happen to us. With the Fire of inspiration, the Water of feeling, and the Air of new thought all swirling together, this Full Moon offers a rare opportunity to rewire your inner circuitry in real time, and plant yourself more deeply in the Earth. Stay connected to your body, your breath, and your willingness to allow. What you begin to embody now could become the foundation for a richer, more expansive version of your life, one that moves from vision to embodiment, from longing to lived experience.
