The New Moon in Gemini is exact this evening at 7:53pm PDT. It takes place at 24° of Gemini, so we are finally back in the swing of the descending order of degree placement after all those lunations at 28°. In Gemini we have language to help us navigate the world, it’s the first thing consciousness created once it woke up. Pisces is the potential for all. Aries says, “I’ll go,” and dives into Taurus’s land of form, the Earth herself. Consciousness was isolated until the twins arrived. They told us how to think, perceive, and connect with each other. That last one is the real drive of Gemini; to connect. The twins know this; they arrived bonded together. And they love this sensation so much, it’s all they could talk about once Cancer came along and started making us a home.

This New Moon arrives in the midst of a revolution on the planet that is far from complete. Ideas, and the ways we share and weaponize them, created the divide and fueled the polarization gripping the world. In the chart of the United States, Mars, representing the population, is in Gemini, and the twins seem locked in a death spiral. We are collectively trying to determine where we stand in a battle for the soul of Humanity. The planets reflect that sides are being drawn and whether we like it or not we must choose, and this is global, not just in the States. It is not more spiritual to be above this. You can argue with what is if you want, but that will only generate the kind of low-buzz Gemini thoughts that this lunar cycle is designed to let go of.

The New Moon is always the main event, so in some ways everything else happening around the luminaries is “on the side.” But this is not dismissive; the outer setup is what is holding the collective as time passes through us. The Sun and Moon are you, in body and conscious awareness, with access to everything invisible here. What is distinct about this New Moon is how the luminaries at 24° Gemini relate to several significant threads of energy on the side, yet make no direct connection to them. Just like us right now; we know who we are, but how we relate to the outside world is highly individual, and like the Sun and the Moon, we are all feeling a bit untethered.

Mercury is already in the first part of his retrograde cycle, the Retrograde Shadow, where he is collecting data for his backward run that starts in this lunar cycle. This may add some delays or the need to rework plans in the coming weeks. On the brighter side, Mercury and Mars are hanging out in a loose Sextile, and we benefit by having our walk and talk working well in this lunar cycle. Venus has just moved into Leo, and our hearts are shining with confidence as Leo is ruled by the Sun. A Sextile from Venus to Uranus excites us while an Opposition to Pluto transforms our emotional body.

It’s clear that the personal planets are reflecting some stability in mind, body, and feelings. That said, Uranus is holding a very disruptive and destabilizing T Square with the Nodes of the Moon. We leave the past and create the future simultaneously in a flash of lightning. After nine months of wild personal change, we found a stable (relative) landing with the New Moon in Taurus. Now we get to consciously create the next chapter where we step up to share our new ideas with a new world. But here’s the thing. We are quite literally at the apex of this wildly disruptive transit that is reflecting two years of revolution.

This is forcing a change in direction that is surprising and in some cases very sudden. This can reflect both endings and beginnings, though you can count on the Full Moon in Capricorn in two weeks removing things even if they are dear to you (Sun in Cancer) in order to build your future (Moon in Capricorn). Let part of your intentions now focus on flexibility and a willingness to allow change with some grace, even as it comes at you fast and furious.

Jupiter is still in generous Cancer and is close enough to Venus to be considered Conjunct. This brings the expansive yummy that Jupiter offers into her transformative transits described above. Jupiter offers more in Cancer, and we feel more deserving of it with Venus in Leo. But here’s another thing. This also pulls in the Square with Chiron, so recent emotional upsets may be blurring your sense of hope and possibility. If there are wounds that still hold you back, it’s time to address them. In a similar theme, this New Moon is Opposing Black Moon Lilith. This is like a strategy meeting to examine current shame levels. Wounds are handled by Chiron, but Black Moon Lilith holds our shame specifically.

Gemini loves to write, so get your journals out and begin where you are, not where you think you should be, or even where you want to be. Saturn helps us with structure, but in Aries the shadow is impulse and beginning without a plan. Do not overshoot your shot; this isn’t a New Moon about specific manifestation. Put the mental effort into what ideas feel right for your life, your consciousness, and your vision. Everything you are imagining right now is most certainly going to change by the time this lunar cycle is over. Set intentions that stretch you without overwhelming you, and as always, let your vision be guided as much by how you want to serve as by what you want to create.
