The New Moon at 7° Taurus is exact today at 12:30pm PDT. The Sun moved into the Taurus mansion a week ago, and so the planet of love rules this lunation. In Taurus, we are in the cash and prizes consciousness, as this fixed earth sign invented Gaia herself, and reflects all the beauty and the bounty of living here on Earth. I like to say that Taurus is the only sign where it is truly comfortable to be in a body, which is why this sign is associated with all those yummy things that the body loves. This is where we take the desires for the year ahead that we forged in the fires of Aries, and ground them in the loving soil of Taurus.

Now, having said all of that, context is everything. We are smack dab in the middle of Mars’s last big hurrah in the direct shadow of his retrograde cycle. He ends the entire cycle on Thursday, but yesterday the Opposition between him and Pluto was exact for the third and final time. Any time Mars is involved, we are as well, in a very direct way, as Mars rules the body; so, work, projects, physical experiences and the like. When Pluto is in town, then deep change and transformation is also happening, but you don’t need an astrologer to tell you that, just look around. But remember that the chaos out there is a reflection of the chaos of the collective, so each of us must carry a piece of that chaotic change, while moving through it at breakneck speed at the same time.

The trajectory of this New Moon is bouncing off the intensity of this Opposition by connecting to it in a T-Square. Sun Square Pluto sets us up for revelation of shadow, and the power struggles that might result. Sun and Mars in a Square is pure conflict and exertion, both physical and energetic. Adding the Moon into the mix brings all of our unconscious impulses close to the surface as well. I know from social media comments that the last two days have been wild with challenging circumstances, and that will absolutely continue today, but there may be some information in current conflicts that will be illuminated by glancing at the past.

Mars and Pluto have been here twice before. The first time was last year, back on November 3rd when Mars was in Cancer and Pluto was in Capricorn. In water and earth, that Opposition might have been very disruptive. They did the dance again just as the year began, peaking on January 2nd. Look back to those dates and see if there is any connection to what you are moving through now, and if there is, let it inform how you approach the moment, and the intentions you want to set.

We wrap up all the personal planet retrogrades in this lunar cycle. Mercury already did this two days ago, and Mars will be next as I said, on May 1st. Venus will be last. She gets to 10° Aries once again on May 15th, and her journey will be complete. We are all different, mind, heart, and body. The next months as we move into summer are going to be very interesting because not only will things really start to heat up when Uranus moves into Gemini in July, we will all be meeting the changes ahead very differently than we can imagine because of unconscious processing that we are just completing.

I’ve said a lot this past year that we are being prepared for our future with the various cycles we have navigated. The three personal planets in a rare simultaneous retrograde was very much about this. Consider the signs they went back to: Cancer and Pisces. Mars learned that to meet the demands ahead, we must consistently care for our bodies to the best of our ability (Cancer). Mercury and Venus learned to put Spirit first (Pisces). Venus easily remembers to come from love, empathy and compassion, but she got a nice refresher. Mercury in Pisces reflects our struggle to surrender control of our 3D thoughts and lower vibe mind. Mars in a Trine with Neptune allows the intentions we set now to be incorporated into our embodiment, completely supported by Spirit, and the power of creative inspiration.

I will remind you that the juicy section of the cosmos right now is hovering over at the birth canal of the zodiac, as the final degree of Pisces gives way to 0° Aries. The North Node is at 26° Pisces and is pointing us all in the direction of putting our spiritual practice first in order to navigate the uncertain future. Saturn at 27° means the Teacher is still helping us do the internal work necessary before he puts us in a baptism by fire in a month when he ingresses Aries himself. Mercury has already done this, so the mind is ready, and Venus will bring the heart into the mix in just three days. Because the Nodes are the anchor for this stelium, Uranus in Easy Opposition with the Nodes brings sudden and revolutionary change into the whole proceedings.

This is why I say we are all being reborn in some way or another, and this is the New Moon where we lean into our hearts, and set powerful intentions for the way we want to meet the times ahead, and how we want to feel rewarded for our service. Look at the house ruled by Taurus in your natal chart for some clues as to what area of your life is most fertile in this New Moon, and don’t be afraid of focusing on cash and prizes if that is what’s in your heart. The world is offering a rather unstable foundation upon which to build our desires into form, so there is some irony in a New Moon in the most grounded and stable sign of the zodiac. So, we remember that while we may not feel so stable at the moment, there is a part of us that does feel that loving sense that we are held in the arms of the Great Mother always, and it is her desire to give to us abundantly. And so it is.
